Ganderbal, Dec 09 (KNO): Once a popular tourist hotspot, Prang Park, located on the banks of Nallah Sindh in Kangan Tehsil of Ganderbal district, is in shambles as according to the locals, it has been neglected by the authorities so far. The locals while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) urged the administration to restore the park to its former splendor, which had once attracted visitors from all across Kashmir. The park, originally owned by the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC), was a vibrant destination known for its scenic beauty and tranquil surroundings. The visitors flocked to the park daily to admire the fast-flowing waves of Nallah Sindh. However, after the eruption of violence in Kashmir in 1990, the park’s charm was marred, and it fell into disrepair. Several beautiful huts once built here were destroyed in the unrest. Speaking to KNO, a local resident said, “Though the JKPDC attempted to resettle the park, it has been unable to continue the process due to the lack of funds, leaving the area in a dilapidated state.” The locals believe that restoring Prang Park would not only revive a key tourist attraction but also generate employment opportunities in the region. “The park used to be a major source of livelihood for many in the area. With the government focusing on tourism, restoring Prang Park can play a vital role in the valley’s economic revival,” said another resident. They urged the Chief Minister Omer Abdullah to prioritize the restoration of Prang Park, hoping that it will once again become a thriving tourist destination that benefits both locals and visitors alike—(KNO)
